Our media teams at each of the four venues were looking for those stories that make us smile.
It is game on for Netherlands
EHF Young Reporter Franziska got her fair share of Dutch gaming experience when she joined a session of what the Dutch players call '30 seconds' which forces the partcipants to explain word without naming the most obvious synonyms and associations.
Of course, Franziska was thrown in at the deep and had to explain herself - thankfully she was allowed to do it her native tongue German - and nevertheless she also made a short video.
Christmas time is cake time
On Wednesday evening at the Holy Trinity Square in Osijek suddenly a 4x4-metre huge Christmas present appeared. Many locals stood in awe, marvellling at at the big red box that wsa neatly tied with a golden ribbon.
Speculation were running high what the package might contain, and on Thursday afternoon the contents were finally. To the amazement of more than 10,000 people present it was a two-metre high, 500kg heavy cake - the biggest in Croatia! Unfortunately, the EHF Media Team in Osijek did not get a bite, but they can report that it was gone within one hour.
Time out for organisers
Organisers of EHF EURO 2014 took some time to de-stress on Wednesday, on a rest day in Group A, as members of the Hungarian EHF EURO Organising Committee challenged EHF staff to a sports contest in Györ's Audi Arena.
ehf-euro.com is happy to report that the EHF upheld the federation's honour, managing to win (narrowly) over four events which included football and of course handball.
Rumour has it that the Hungarian team is now in training for a return fixture in Debrecen in the Main Round.
